Michael Cancro

Michael Cancro serves as the chief strategy officer and president of the physician services division for UCHealth, a nationally recognized, nonprofit health care system with operating revenue of $7.5 billion and a workforce of more than 33,000 people. UCHealth includes 14 Colorado hospitals with over 2,500 inpatient beds and more than 200 clinic locations in Colorado, southern Wyoming and western Nebraska.

As chief strategy officer, he is responsible for leading corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, data analytics through the outcomes and operational intelligence function, strategic partnerships, and special projects.

As president of the physician services division, Mr. Cancro is responsible for leading value-based care, population health and UCHealth Medical Group, the physician-led group serving UCHealth hospitals and clinics. With more than 1,600 physicians and advanced practice providers, UCHealth Medical Group provides a full continuum of medical care.

Mr. Cancro also serves as the UCHealth lead for partnerships – specifically Trinsic, a clinically integrated network, and Select Health, a new insurance plan for Colorado – aimed at improving the lives of Coloradans by improving value and quality in health care in conjunction with Intermountain Health.

Prior to joining UCHealth in 2012, Mr. Cancro worked at Deloitte Consulting, serving some of the nation’s leading health care systems and payers. His work was primarily focused on enterprise strategy development, mergers and acquisitions, operational and financial performance improvement, project management, new business ventures, population health, health policy evaluation, innovation, and new ventures.

Mr. Cancro attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for both his master’s and undergraduate degrees.
