UCHealth uses DUO to provide secure access to resources like oneSOURCE, MyApps, Epic and more. When you sign into these programs, DUO uses two-factor authentication—an extra layer of security to verify that you have authorized access.

Why are we using DUO?

Login credentials are more valuable than ever and are increasingly easy to compromise. Over 90% of breaches today involve compromised usernames and passwords, and UCHealth is an enticing target to bad actors.

Two-factor authentication enhances the security of your account by using a secondary device to verify your identity. This prevents anyone but you from accessing your account, even if they know your password.

What is DUO multifactor authentication?

Multifactor authentication is probably something you are familiar with already, as many financial and other services you use in everyday life might require it now. It can come in the form of text messages containing a code you have to enter in, a callback, or other mechanisms.

What makes DUO special is the highly preferred “Push” notification you can receive on your mobile phone. You will simply need to tap the “Approve” button to finish your authentication.
