Keynote Speaker: Dr. Laurie Santos

Yale professor. Scientist. Host of “The Happiness Lab” podcast.

Dr. Laurie Santos is a psychologist, teacher of the most popular class in Yale’s history, host of “The Happiness Lab” podcast and creator of “The Science of Well-Being” on Coursera. Her goal is to help teach others to live happier lives through science-backed techniques.

She is currently the Chandrika and Ranjan Tandon Professor of Psychology and the former Head of Silliman College at Yale University. Her course, Psychology and the Good Life, teaches what the science of psychology says about how to make wiser choices for a better life. It’s Yale’s most popular course in over 300 years, with almost one out of four students enrolled.

With her podcast, “The Happiness Lab,” Dr. Santos takes you through the latest scientific research and shares some surprising and inspiring stories that will change the way you think about happiness.

Host: Erika Gonzalez

Erika Gonzalez is a reporter and news anchor for the FOX31 and Channel 2 team and is thrilled to be the host of evrē 2024.

She broke into TV news as an assignment editor for the CBS affiliate WFOR in her hometown of Miami. She has also worked as a traffic reporter and news anchor in South Carolina and Alabama.

Erika loves to spend time with her son, husband and dog and lives for making memories with her friends and family. She enjoys reading, running, eating and learning. If you see her out and about, she hopes you’ll stop her for a friendly hello. Erika’s passion for her work and never-ending curiosity about the world around her means no story is too big or too small to cover.

Morning refreshments begin at 8 a.m. and will include:

FAQs

How do I get to the Stockyards Events Center?

The event will be at the Stockyards Event Center at the National Western Complex. There are multiple buildings that make up the complex. Look for evrē signage. Google Maps or Waze is the preferred method of GPS location.

Where do I park? Does it cost to park?

Parking is free for all attendees. Primary parking is located directly next to the Stockyards Event Center. Please be sure to follow the signage with the evrē logo to the designated parking lots. Parking attendants will be present to help guide traffic.

Where do I enter the Stockyards Events Center for evrē?

You will be entering the facility through the main doors from the primary parking lot. There will be signage and staff directing you from the parking lot and greeting you at the doors.

What should I wear?

You can wear athleisure attire if you’re attending any of our workout classes or just want to be comfortable! As temperatures can be cooler inside the Stockyards Event Center, bringing layers is recommended (e.g., fleece jacket, warm-up jacket, vest).

Masks are optional for all attendees.

What if the weather that day is cold and snowy? Will I be able to change/put a coat somewhere?

Yes. Attendees will be able to store coats as needed inside the Stockyards Event Center at the coat check.

Will there be changing rooms if I want to change after a fitness class?

Yes, you will have access to various restrooms to change if desired.

What do I need to bring?
  • Your Blackthorn evrē ticket (either visible on your cell phone, in a confirmation email or a hard-copy printout).
  • Signed waiver for check-in. We also will have waivers on hand if you need one.
  • Appropriate apparel and footwear if you are participating in fitness classes. You can remove your shoes if you participate in the yoga class.
  • A yoga/workout mat if you plan to participate in any fitness classes.
  • Credit card or phone payment, as some vendors will have items for sale.

Your registration fee covers all fitness classes, the main stage presentation, one free health screening (either biometric screening or other), food and refreshments throughout the morning and a special giveaway to all attendees. Drop-in demos, assessments and chair massages are also included in your ticket price, but are on a first-come, first-served basis and therefore may not be available to all attendees.

How long will the event last?

The doors open at 8:00 a.m. & the event will conclude at 1:30 p.m. You are welcome to tailor your morning/your stay based on your interests and availability. Please see event schedule on the event website.

Can I bring my children?

This event is for adult women (18 and up). There are no childcare services at the Stockyards Events Center, so please make arrangements accordingly.

I am currently breastfeeding my baby. Is there a location to pump while I’m at the event?

Yes. There is a Mother’s Room located in the main entry hallway, behind check-in. There is a refrigerator in the room that you are welcome to use or you can bring your own bring a small cooler/cold pack to store your milk.

Will there be food/beverages available?

Yes. Juices, tea, coffee, light offerings (including vegan and gluten-free options) for breakfast, snacks and lunch will be available throughout the event area. All food and beverage is included in your registration.

Can I bring my own water bottle?

Yes, we encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle that you can refill at water dispensers located throughout the venue.

What kind of vendors will be on site?

A variety of clothing boutiques, fitness studios, health foods, home goods and more will be onsite in the Vendor Village.

Can I take photos?

Yes!  We encourage you to take photos, and post and share your evrē experience. Use #evre and tag @uchealth on Facebook, Instagram and X.
