UCHealth Applied Decision Science Lab
Using best practices, big data and artificial intelligence to lower costs and improve outcomes.
The UCHealth Applied Decision Science Lab (ADSL) was founded to ensure the best science is consistently used at the point of care by clinicians.
This is a first of its kind lab at a major academic medical center. We are collaborating with both internal and external innovators, as well as industry partners, to develop, test and apply more effective ways to use decision support science to improve care through reduced clinical variation.
- It will reduce clinical variation, lower cost and improve outcomes.
- It will enable value based care models for every health care stakeholder.
- It will be the foundation for making big data actionable, including the effective use of machine learning and artificial intelligence in the provider’s clinical workflow.
“Making this data actionable in the real-world clinical workflow is incredibly challenging. We must focus on the point of care application of all this knowledge we generate as well as how artificial intelligence can effectively impact decision making. This must be done in ways clinicians will embrace and use or this knowledge is wasted.” – Dr. Richard Zane, UCHealth chief innovation officer and professor and chair of Emergency Medicine at the CU School of Medicine.
Why partner with us?
We have established the ADSL to provide a place to connect the capabilities and contributions of the most promising decision support startups with more established companies, such as life sciences and pharma, device manufacturers and other large technology providers.
We will better understand how these stakeholders can both contribute to decision support science, and to help our collaborators understand how the application of this new decision support science will transform their business’ existing and emerging business models.
“ADSL is focused on how to make decision support technology easily used by clinicians. Our Lab’s ability to quickly iterate and test these workflows and see if they actually improve clinician adoption of these standards is unique. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with industry to realize the promise of these technologies.” – Dr. Jennifer Wiler, executive director, UCHealth CARE Innovation Center.
