Pharmacy at UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central now open 24/7

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Sept. 12, 2025) – To better serve the community, UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central has expanded its retail pharmacy service hours and is now open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to fill new, necessary and urgent prescriptions from any provider when other community pharmacies may be closed. 

The  location is the region’s only 24-hour pharmacy and is open to the public; customers do not need to be a UCHealth patient to use this service. For the best results, patients should have their provider e-prescribe directly to the pharmacy to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment. UCHealth patients can access both new prescriptions and refills 24/7. 

The expanded service is especially beneficial for patients being discharged from the emergency department and will also offer convenience to community members needing urgent refills at night or on weekends and holidays. 

“UCHealth is always focused on our mission to improve lives, and being able to offer convenient access to needed medications at any hour of the day helps prevents gaps in care,” said Rob Welch, a vice president of operations at Memorial Hospital. “We are proud to offer this service to the community.” 

Nicole Keenan, UCHealth pharmacy manager for the Southern Colorado region, said timely and easy access to medications is tied to health outcomes: "Approximately 30 percent of prescribed medications are never dispensed, and failure to adhere to a physician’s treatment plan significantly heightens the likelihood of hospital readmission or poor outcomes," she said. 

To access the pharmacy after hours – after 7 p.m. weekdays or on weekends - customers should utilize the complimentary valet service at the hospital’s main entrance at 1400 E. Boulder St. and check in at the security desk in the lobby. Security officers will escort customers to and from the pharmacy.
