It&#8217;s making sure patients get the care they need, even when life circumstances make that difficult.<\/p>\n<p>On one evening, Sibbald took images for an elderly woman following her primary care appointment. By the time the appointment ended, it was after 5 p.m. and it was clear that the patient&#8217;s arranged transportation was not coming.<\/p>\n<p>The patient, who was unhoused and had no family nearby, had no way to get back to where she was staying.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was cold, getting dark, and while there was a bus stop nearby, it just didn&#8217;t seem feasible for her to try to navigate the bus system alone,&#8221; Sibbald said.<\/p>\n<p>Most clinic staff had already gone home, but Sibbald wasn&#8217;t willing to leave until the patient had transportation. After exploring a few different options, Sibbald was able to arrange a car service to get the patient safely to her destination.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think she was relieved, but she was also hesitant to accept the help,&#8221; Sibbald said. &#8220;She had a lot of pride. We made it clear we were happy to do it and just wanted her to get there safely.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The experience opened Sibbald&#8217;s eyes to the challenges many patients face every day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You know these situations are happening, but seeing them firsthand is different,&#8221; she said. &#8220;There are a lot of people in similar situations who are doing everything they can just to get through the day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Moments like these remind her why Family Medicine Center&#8217;s on-site imaging services are so valuable, and she takes pride in the services she can offer patients.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Transportation is something a lot of people take for granted,&#8221; Sibbald said. &#8220;For many of our patients, getting to their primary care appointment is already difficult. If they have to make another trip to a different location for imaging, more than likely it just won&#8217;t get done because the circumstances are so challenging.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>What truly inspires Sibbald is the resilience she sees in her patients, like the woman that evening.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m always impressed with what people go through just to navigate life,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Many of our patients face so many more challenges than most of us, yet they stay positive and keep moving forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It is a lesson Sibbald has taken to heart and brings to every patient interaction. These moments remind her why she chose a career in healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone deserves good healthcare,&#8221; she said. &#8220;At the Family Medicine Center, we do everything we can to help our patients get the care they need.
