{"id":74347,"date":"2024-02-29T09:01:42","date_gmt":"2024-02-29T16:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/today\/?p=74347"},"modified":"2024-02-29T09:01:42","modified_gmt":"2024-02-29T16:01:42","slug":"our-stories-dominique-welch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/today\/our-stories-dominique-welch\/","title":{"rendered":"Dominique Welch"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><figure id=\"attachment_74349\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-74349\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-74349\" src=\"https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2024\/02\/27083200\/YMEP_YVMC-Dominique-Welch-web.webp\" alt=\"A photo of Dominique Welch.\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-74349\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dominique Welch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Repeated acts of kindness in the winter months<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a registered nurse in the birth center at UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center, Dominique Welch is one of the care team members present when new life comes into the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLife itself is quite miraculous,\u201d she said. \u201cIt takes a lot for us to be alive and well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She first entered the world of health care as an emergency medicine technician, inspired by her role as a medical ski patroller with Steamboat Resort, a job she still holds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI enjoy taking care of humans, as I find human physiology and pathophysiology extremely interesting,\u201d said Welch. \u201cI hope the result is improving lives in promoting and perpetuating wellness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her desire to care for others led her to do repeated acts of kindness in the winter months at YVMC \u2013 brushing snow from her co-workers\u2019 vehicles at the end of her shifts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy husband, <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/today\/heart-failure-doesnt-slow-him-down-it-pushes-him\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chris<\/a>, had surprised me with brushing off my car after a shift,\u201d said Welch. \u201cIt was so considerate of him, and it was so nice to have one less thing to worry about after working a long shift.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When she finishes her shift, Welch turns on her car so it can warm up and brushes off any new snow. Instead of then sitting in her car as it finishes warming, she takes the opportunity to continue taking care of others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have the pleasure of working with an extremely thoughtful group of humans,\u201d said Welch. \u201cThey support and assist me all the time. Brushing snow from their cars after we get off shift is the least I can do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Livesey is one of the house supervisors at YVMC who has been the recipient of a freshly cleared car.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a delightful feeling to come out of the hospital and not have to brush off your car,\u201d he said. \u201cThe fact that Dominique does this is not the slightest bit surprising.
