On Friday, December 1, 2023, Parkview Medical Center and Parkview Pueblo West Hospital join UCHealth\u2019s statewide network of hospitals and clinics. For 100 years, Parkview has provided excellent care for people throughout Pueblo and southern Colorado. This care will continue now as part of UCHealth, a Colorado-based nonprofit health system.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to welcome Parkview and its talented providers and staff to the UCHealth family,\u201d said Elizabeth B. Concordia, UCHealth president and CEO. \u201cBoth organizations have similar values and work every day to meet the health care needs of our patients by delivering care close to home. Our partnership will ensure the residents of southern Colorado continue to receive the high-quality health care they deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cToday marks the beginning of the next chapter for Parkview. We couldn\u2019t be more thrilled to now be part of UCHealth,\u201d said Darrin Smith, president and CEO of Parkview Health System. \u201cWith a team of almost 3,000 staff and providers, we reaffirm our commitment to our patients, our community, and our region to deliver patient-centered care.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leaders from both health systems will mark the historic partnership on Friday, December 1, 2023, along with the presentation of a $5 million donation from UCHealth to the Parkview Foundation.<\/p>\n

Parkview Health System\u2019s Board of Directors, made up of community members who oversee the hospital, negotiated the agreement with UCHealth to ensure a strong future for the hospital so Pueblo residents have access to the care and services they need.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know this was not only the right decision for Parkview, but more importantly, for the patients and communities Parkview serves,\u201d said Judy Fonda, president of the Parkview Board of Directors. \u201cWe look forward to continuing our support through local oversight of Parkview\u2019s services and quality.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parkview\u2019s staff, providers and leaders will retain their positions, ensuring a smooth transition for patients, and Parkview will continue to be the largest employer in Pueblo.<\/p>\n

UCHealth will invest nearly $200 million over the next 10 years into Parkview and the Pueblo community, including a $5 million donation to the Parkview Foundation. This donation will establish a long-term fund to support patients, the community and the hospital; and capital investments to upgrade Parkview\u2019s facilities, equipment and technology. The funds will also stabilize Parkview\u2019s finances to continue the services offered today.<\/p>\n

Additionally, UCHealth will provide assistance with recruiting excellent staff and physicians, support for nursing and clinical education programs, and continued partnerships with universities and community colleges to develop Colorado\u2019s health care workforce.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe future of Parkview is bright, and I\u2019m eager to see all the things on the horizon become reality,\u201d said Smith. \u201cExpanded access to advanced treatments and clinical trials, increased collaboration with new colleagues and subject matter experts, new technology and innovative tools \u2013 it all helps us care for our patients.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the addition of the Pueblo hospitals \u2013 to be known as UCHealth Parkview Medical Center and UCHealth Parkview Pueblo West Hospital \u00ad\u00ad\u2013\u00a0 UCHealth will have 14 acute-care hospitals in the state.<\/p>\n
