This year, the seasonal lull and impact of a recent cold snap dramatically impacted local\u00a0<span class=\"x_x_markeghg7k2qh x_x_ContentPasted0\">blood<\/span>\u00a0supplies while the needs of patients increased.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_FluidPluginCopy\"><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">Facing low\u00a0<span class=\"x_x_markeghg7k2qh x_x_ContentPasted0\">blood<\/span>\u00a0supplies, UCHealth is encouraging eligible donors to start the new year with real meaning by donating\u00a0<span class=\"x_x_markeghg7k2qh x_x_ContentPasted0\">blood<\/span>\u00a0to help hospital patients in need.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_FluidPluginCopy\"><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">\u201cThis is a good year to resolve to make a difference in the lives of others when they need you most,\u201d Dunn said. \u201cI can\u2019t think of a better way to do that than by donating blood on a regular basis. Every time you donate\u00a0<span class=\"x_x_markeghg7k2qh x_x_ContentPasted0\">blood,<\/span>\u00a0you can save up to three lives in less than an hour.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_FluidPluginCopy\"><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">Donations of all\u00a0<span class=\"x_x_markeghg7k2qh x_x_ContentPasted0\">blood<\/span> types are needed and important. Officials expect the need will be ongoing for several weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_xxxxmsonormal x_x_FluidPluginCopy\"><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">There are now three UCHealth\u00a0<span class=\"x_x_markeghg7k2qh x_x_ContentPasted0\">blood<\/span>\u00a0donor centers in northern Colorado: \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/locations\/garth-englund-blood-donation-center-fort-collins\/\">Fort Collins<\/a> &#8211; 1025 Pennock Place\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/locations\/uchealth-garth-englund-blood-donation-center-loveland\/\">Loveland<\/a> &#8211; 2500 Rocky Mountain Ave. (inside Medical Center of the Rockies)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_x_elementToProof\"><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/locations\/uchealth-garth-englund-blood-center-greeley\/\">Greeley<\/a> &#8211;\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">6906 W. 10<sup class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">th<\/sup>\u00a0St.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal x_x_FluidPluginCopy x_x_elementToProof\"><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">Donors can schedule donation appointments now at any of UCHealth\u2019s blood donor centers or a selection of mobile blood drives in northern Colorado thanks to a new online donor portal. In addition to scheduling a donation, the interactive system also allows donors to look up their blood type, their last donation date, their gallon total and upcoming mobile blood drive opportunities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal x_x_FluidPluginCopy\"><b><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">To schedule a donation,\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">create a new account on the <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/GarthDonorPortal\">donor portal <\/a><\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">or call <a href=\"tel:970.495.8965\">970.495.8965<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal x_x_FluidPluginCopy x_x_elementToProof\"><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">To donate blood, a person must be at least 18 years old (or 17 with a parent\u2019s permission) and show photo identification. New blood donors must weigh at least 120 pounds and be in good health. Prior donors must weigh at least 110 pounds with no complications during previous donations and feel well and healthy.<\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_xxxxmsonormal x_x_FluidPluginCopy x_x_elementToProof\"><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">All\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\"><span class=\"x_x_markeghg7k2qh x_x_ContentPasted0\">blood<\/span><\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">\u00a0donated through UCHealth\u2019s Garth Englund\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\"><span class=\"x_x_markeghg7k2qh x_x_ContentPasted0\">Blood<\/span><\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">\u00a0Centers stays local.
