That Sunday \u2014 and in the days that follow \u2014 take advantage of the earlier sunrise to get out for a morning walk or a sunrise hike. Catch the golden morning light over Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins or find peaceful reflection as you birdwatch at a nearby natural area.<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s not just the mornings where you can benefit from the change. So, it\u2019s no surprise that a\u00a0<a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/georgetownbighorns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bighorn Sheep Festival<\/a>\u00a0would take place there, the home of Colorado\u2019s oldest and largest bighorn herds. This charming mountain town, nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, is the perfect backdrop to celebrate Colorado\u2019s official state animal.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you\u2019re a wildlife enthusiast, a nature lover, or you\u2019re simply looking for a unique family outing, <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/visitclearcreek.com\/events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this free festival<\/a> that takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. promises a day filled with educational activities, guided tours and plenty of opportunities to spot the iconic bighorn sheep in their natural habitat.<\/p>\n<p>There will be education talks and archery at the\u00a0<a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.georgetowntrust.org\/georgetowngatewayvisitorcenter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gateway Visitor Center<\/a>, 1491 Argentine St., and kids\u2019 activities, crafts, music and food trucks at 600 6th\u00a0St. in Georgetown.\u00a0 <div class=\"su-divider su-divider-style-default\" style=\"margin:15px 0;border-width:3px;border-color:#999999\"><\/div>\n<h2><strong>Nov. 1-11: Veterans Week \u2013 Colorado Spring, Colorado<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_86338\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-86338\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-86338\" src=\"https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/10\/16143242\/VeteransParade-colorado-springs-november1-web.webp\" alt=\"The Veterans Parade in Colorado Springs. The event honors veterans from all branches.<\/p>\n<p>Veterans Week kicks off with the historic <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/goairforcefalcons.com\/sports\/football\/opponent-history\/army\/40\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Air Force vs. Army football face-off<\/a> at Falcon Stadium. On Nov. 7, a Purple Heart Exhibit opens at the <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/fac.coloradocollege.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center<\/a>. That event showcases 150 military medals and decorations, including original artwork used in the design and engraving of the Purple Heart medal, and historic medals from the Revolutionary War and American Civil War.<\/p>\n<p>On Nov. 8, the Veterans Parade starts at 11 a.m. And on Nov. 11, the week\u2019s events will conclude with a Veterans Day Wreath Laying Ceremony and Observance.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the effort to celebrate service and sacrifice, 1,111 flags will stand in a field in downtown Colorado Springs as a physical expression of gratitude for service members. Community members can <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/ithveteransdayparade.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cadopt\u201d a flag<\/a> to include their honoree\u2019s name, military branch and years or place of service. Photo Courtesy of History Colorado.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>November is <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/subjects\/npscelebrates\/native-american-heritage-month.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Native American Heritage Month<\/a>, a time when the National Park Service, museums and other organizations come together to honor the rich traditions, languages and contributions of Indigenous peoples while also acknowledging the tragedies they have endured.<\/p>\n<p>One such tragedy was the Sand Creek Massacre, an event that forever altered the lives of the Cheyenne and Arapaho people and changed the course of U.S. history. On Nov. 29, 1864, approximately 700 U.S. soldiers attacked the lodges of unsuspecting Arapaho and Cheyenne civilians near Eads, Colorado.
