Gronow has been serving as interim CEO since August, 2021, and was named the hospital\u2019s chief operating officer in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am confident Tom will continue to lead <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/locations\/uchealth-university-of-colorado-hospital-uch\/\">University of Colorado Hospital<\/a> with a focus on providing excellent patient care, delivering the best possible experience for our patients, and driving the future of medicine through clinical trials and highly specialized treatments,\u201d said UCHealth President and CEO Elizabeth Concordia. \u201cTom already has strong relationships with the faculty members and leaders at the University of Colorado School of Medicine who will be integral partners as UCH expands its services and specialties in the coming years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gronow, 41, has led UCH as its COO during a time when it has repeatedly been named the No. 1 hospital in Colorado by <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/today\/u-s-news-world-report-ranks-three-uchealth-hospitals-among-best-in-the-state-including-university-of-colorado-hospital-at-no-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/a>, with many specialties ranked among the best in the nation. He will also focus on completing University of Colorado Hospital\u2019s tower 3 which is currently under construction. Opening in 2023, the new tower will expand capacity at the hospital, adding hundreds of additional inpatient and ICU rooms along with a new, inpatient behavioral health unit. The new unit is part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/today\/uchealth-dedicates-more-than-100-million-for-behavioral-health-care\/\">UCHealth\u2019s $150 million investment<\/a> to expand behavioral health services and access throughout Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining UCHealth, Gronow was the vice president of operations at UPMC Mercy Hospital and its executive director of emergency, trauma and burn services.
