I just clicked on my doctor\u2019s name and it booked me for the following day. I was kind of surprised at that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sutton says he\u2019ll definitely use it again.<\/p>\n<h3>Patients encouraged to use online scheduling<\/h3>\n<p>The system has been in place for some months, but UCHealth recently started encouraging current and new patients to use it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the biggest advantages is that you can set an appointment when it\u2019s convenient for you to do so,\u201d said Carla Bowen, director of primary care operations for UCHealth Medical Group. \u201cYou can schedule that appointment whenever you want, at 7 o\u2019clock at night, on a Sunday afternoon, or whenever you think of doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really quite easy,\u201d said Arlene Ward, practice manager for UCHealth Primary Care \u2013 Chapel Hills in Colorado Springs. \u201cIf you\u2019re a patient, you can schedule an appointment through My Health Connection either online or using the UCHealth app.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-callout-box col-xs-6 col-sm-6 right\" style=\"background-color:#dce4e7; color:#2e3b44;\">\n<p><strong>If you have a My Health Connection account<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sign on to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/access-my-health-connection\/\">My Health Connection<\/a> at the UCHealth website (uchealth.org)\u00a0or login to the UCHealth app<\/li>\n<li>Go to Appointments and click on schedule an appointment<\/li>\n<li>Follow the prompts and select a provider, date and time for your appointment based on your need<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>If you are a new patient, follow the below steps<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visit uchealth.org and click on the Schedule Online button<\/li>\n<li>Under the New patients tab, click on Schedule online now<\/li>\n<li>Select your insurance provider, the type of care you\u2019re looking for \u2013 Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, and enter your zip code<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In just a few steps, you\u2019ll have an appointment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>My Health Connection is a convenient, online portal where patients can communicate with their doctors, request prescription refills, access test results and now schedule appointments online.<br \/>\nIf you\u2019re a new patient or don\u2019t have your My Health Connection profile set up, visit uchealth.org and click on the Schedule Online button. Under the New patients tab, click on Schedule online now. Select your insurance provider, the type of care you\u2019re looking for \u2013 Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, and enter your zip code.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, a call to the doctor\u2019s office is inevitable. You may\u00a0be unsure whether or not you need to see your doctor or someone else. Maybe you just have a question that doesn\u2019t require a visit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you have questions you want answered before scheduling an appointment, you should call,\u201d Ward said. \u201cThen you can talk to a nurse or get advice. Is it an urgent situation? The scheduling option will ask you that, too. You might get an appointment in two hours or so.<br \/>\nWith the new system, patients may also cancel or reschedule appointments online. Staff is notified of each change in real time.<\/p>\n<p>Though the tool is new, it\u2019s easy to use and not much different than making an online reservation at a restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think people are hesitant to use it at first because they are not always sure how easy or accessible it will be,\u201d Bowen said. \u201cIt\u2019s a new thing, but once they see how simple it is, it really is a timesaver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ward said she thought the new tool would be a hit with younger patients, but she is surprised by the number of older patients who love it, too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a patient tell me the other day, \u2018My mom is so excited about this!\u2019\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>(To make an appointment with a\u00a0referred specialist, call the office of the specialist
