Photo by Kelly Tracer, UCHealth.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Would you be prepared to save a life if you suddenly had to?<\/p>\n<p>UCHealth is working to educate as many Coloradans as possible on how to stop uncontrolled bleeding in emergency situations. To do this, UCHealth experts is training the public at several Stop The Bleed workshops throughout the state.<\/p>\n<p>The skills learned in these interactive workshops are simple and could save a life.<\/p>\n<p>Stop The Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call to action for people to learn and be prepared to use different kinds of life-saving techniques to assist in a bleeding emergency until emergency responders arrive. Life-threatening bleeding can occur from a number of incidents, including home injuries, motor vehicle crashes, active shooters and other mass casualty events.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA person can die from bleeding within five minutes if they don\u2019t get help immediately,\u201d said Kerry Borrego, a UCHealth trauma outreach program manager. \u201cWe want everyone in our community to know what to do and to be confident enough to intervene quickly if someone needs help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few of UCHealth&#8217;s upcoming Stop The Bleed events planned for the public:<\/p>\n<h2><strong><u>Northern Colorado<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>March 31: <\/strong>A free two-hour Stop The Bleed workshop will be held from 9-11 a.m. in the Lory Student Center on the Colorado State University campus in Fort Collins. For more information, call <a href=\"tel:970-495-7504\"><span class=\"baec5a81-e4d6-4674-97f3-e9220f0136c1\">(970) 495-7504<\/span><\/a>\u00a0or email <a href=\"mailto:janet.werst@uchealth.org\">janet.werst@uchealth.org<\/a>. The training was designed for anyone age 12 and older. Interested participants younger than 12 may attend the event at the discretion of a parent or guardian.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><u>Colorado Springs<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>March 31:<\/strong> Six free one-hour Stop The Bleed classes will be held at the UCHealth Community Education Center, 2050 KidsKare Point, in Colorado Springs. Class start times are at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><u>Metro Denver<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>April 9:<\/strong> Three free one-hour Stop The Bleed classes will be held at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, United Club Level, 1701 Bryant St. in Denver.
