Photo by Kelly Tracer, UCHealth.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBob is the epitome of what I hope to find with all\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/give-to-uchealth\/volunteer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">volunteers<\/a>,\u201d Fisher said. \u201cHe has touched so many patients, families and staff members that I feel his presence is immeasurable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bob has accumulated 6,000 volunteer hours at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, and all but two of his 11 years volunteering have been spent in the PVH emergency room. Photo by Kelly Tracer, UCHealth.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI win every time I walk into this place,\u201d Bob said. \u201cI keep pinching myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s had to pinch himself several more times since his nomination, including when he participated in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/momentstoshine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> UCHealth\u2019s Moments to Shine program<\/a>. It was the first time his three grown children had all been together with him since 2015, the second Christmas after his wife, Barbara, passed away.<\/p>\n<p>Barb had introduced Bob to volunteering. She had been volunteering at PVH for several years when she suggested that he might enjoy it too. And he did. The two worked together at the ambassador\u2019s desk at PVH\u2019s front entrance \u2014 Barb first training Bob.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a fantastic way to get the family together,\u201d Bob said about the game. \u201cIt was special on so many levels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bob was recognized for all he does as a volunteer via the Jumbotron.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be able to bring awareness to volunteering is wonderful, and this event showed the community how much UCHealth cherishes its volunteers,\u201d Fisher said. \u201cThey are heroes to us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just like a volunteer \u2014 always thinking of others \u2014 Bob, too, saw the opportunity as a chance to inspire others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt does feel good to be thanked,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen you can do something to honor an individual or entity, that\u2019s great, but what\u2019s even better is that you\u2019re letting other people know what good stuff is going on, and that\u2019s inspiring.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m lucky.
