She gets straight As in school, loves activities and plays hockey for the Colorado Rampage; she\u2019s one of only few girls on the team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen she was about 2 years old, she saw hockey on television and said she wanted to do that. I thought she wanted to go ice skating, so when she was about 4, I took her ice skating and she said no, so I put her in hockey,\u2019\u2019 said Jon Krantz, Jase\u2019s dad.<\/p>\n<p>The Colorado Avalanche, Colorado College Hockey and USA Hockey\u00a0 provided Jase with very cool memorabilia. Colorado College sent three hockey players to wish Jase a happy birthday. Porsche of Colorado Springs provided the transportation in the Porsche.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10236\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10236\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10236 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/26040214\/DSC_3303.webp\" alt=\"Jase Krantz is shown receiving a figurine from the Colorado Avalanche.\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/26040214\/DSC_3303.webp 667w, https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/26040214\/DSC_3303-200x300.webp 200w, https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/26040214\/DSC_3303-100x150.webp 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10236\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jase Krantz delights in receiving a figurine from the Colorado Avalanche for her 10th birthday.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There were hats and jerseys from Colorado College, USA Hockey and a signed jersey and hockey stick from Nathan MacKinnon, a forward for the Avalanche.<\/p>\n<p>Asked what she liked best, Jase replied: \u201cI don\u2019t know, like, all of it.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>She anticipated she might have to keep the MacKinnon shirt away from her big sister, Boe, 13, born at Memorial Hospital Central.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe is not wearing that,\u2019\u2019 Jase told her mother, Nicole Andreas.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Jack Tubbs, a prominent OB\/Gyn who has delivered between 200 and 300 babies a year for 25 years, remembers the day MHN opened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember worrying about whether or not it was going to open that day or if we were going to have to deliver at MHC. Everything went great,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>When he saw Jase on Tuesday, he said he was pleased to see such a happy, healthy girl.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of times people will come up to me with their children and say, \u2018You delivered this one.\u2019\u2019 And it is always great to see that they are happy and healthy and given lots of opportunities in life,\u2019\u2019 Dr. Tubbs said.<\/p>\n<p>Since Jase was born, 17,000 children have been born at the hospital that began as a small, neighborhood hospital to one that has grown to providing advanced cardiac, cancer, and oncology care.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10238\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10238\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10238 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/26040223\/DSC_3333.webp\" alt=\"Jase Krantz eats cake.\" width=\"300\" height=\"186\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/26040223\/DSC_3333.webp 1200w, https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/26040223\/DSC_3333-300x186.webp 300w, https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/26040223\/DSC_3333-1024x635.webp 1024w, https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/26040223\/DSC_3333-768x476.webp 768w, https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/26040223\/DSC_3333-150x93.webp 150w, https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/26040223\/DSC_3333-200x124.webp 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10238\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jase Krantz celebrates her 10th birthday with cake.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Tamera Dunseth-Rosenbaum, the associate chief nursing officer at MHN, told the crowd at the birthday party that a look outside \u2013 where construction is underway on a $125 million, 144,000-square foot addition to see how the hospital has evolved in the last 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>The addition brings eight additional emergency department beds, a new CT scan (giving the hospital two), two new operating rooms and expanded oncology services in a convenient, one-stop location.<\/p>\n<p>The labor and delivery unit will be connected by a walking bridge to a new Children\u2019s Hospital Colorado hospital that also is under construction on the MHN campus.<\/p>\n<p>What will the next 10 years bring for MHN?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we\u2019re going to have more providers on this campus, we\u2019ll have more surgeons, cardiologists and oncologists. With Children\u2019s here, this campus will be a convenient, one-stop campus for parents, families, and children,\u2019\u2019 Dunseth-Rosenbaum said.<\/p>\n<p>She said that seeing how healthy Jase is on her 10th birthday is \u201cwhat it\u2019s all about.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Before the party ended, Jase\u2019s family joked that they\u2019d like to celebrate her 20th birthday at MHN \u2013 and drive away in a new Porsche.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jase Krantz left the fourth grade at Banning Lewis Elementary School on Tuesday afternoon, stepped into a Porsche Cayenne, and took a short ride to the place of her birth \u2013 Memorial Hospital North.
