Dr. Scott Hurlbert is a general and vascular surgeon with Memorial General and Vascular Surgery and Memorial Vein Center. He received his medical degree from the University of Colorado, where he graduated with honors. He completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and his fellowship in vascular surgery, involving extensive experience in endovascular therapy, at Southern Illinois University.
In addition, Dr. Hurlbert has served in several leadership capacities at Memorial Hospital including senior medical director for surgical specialties, and chief of the medical staff.

Dr. Scott Hurlbert, who has been treating vascular patients in Colorado Springs since 1998, has many “firsts” on his resume. Not only was he the first in southern Colorado to perform minimally invasive Aortic Endograft repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms, he also was the first in the region to do rotational atherectomy for blockages in leg arteries and the first to perform laser ablation for the treatment of varicose veins.
“I am a strong believer in partnering with patients in developing plans of care,” Hurlbert says. “I try to put the patient at the center of all decision-making. I also think that a patient’s time is valuable, and I try hard not to waste it.”
Besides a busy clinical practice, he also has been active in physician leadership, serving in the past as the Chief of the Medical Staff for Memorial and currently as Chief of Surgery. Hurlbert grew up in Summit County and enjoys hiking, climbing and running. He participates in triathlons, has completed an Ironman and has climbed every 14er in Colorado. He also enjoys traveling with his family, which includes two children.
