In my heart, I have always been a teacher. Patients who understand their diagnoses and treatments are more capable of becoming active partners with their physicians in achieving and maintaining their best possible state of health. My intent is to provide to my patients the most up to date information available regarding their condition and subsequent diagnostic and therapeutic options. I can then work with my patients, together developing treatment and health maintenance plans that fit their individual needs, goals and expectations.

Clinical interests: All aspects of adult health care and geriatric care from acute illnesses to complex medical conditions

Why UCHealth? As healthcare has become more consolidated in northern Colorado, UCHealth has established itself as a nationally recognized regional leader. They have consistently joined with the best established specialty services in the area. As a generalist, it will be a privilege to share association with specialists such as Heart Center of the Rockies, and the urology group as well as the excellent endocrinologists, rheumatologists, pulmonologists and more. During my 23 years of practice in Loveland, these represent many physicians that I had worked with closely and physicians that I trust and respect. I also believe that UCHealth will give me the opportunity to influence the physician response to a changing landscape in medicine. The “physician driven” philosophy is very appealing to me.

Why did you choose this profession? In seventh grade we had a “career day” where we to choose a career that we might like and then make a presentation regarding that chosen field. I chose medicine and have never looked back. I chose General Internal Medicine because I like the intellectual challenge involving the complexity of care of these patients. I also enjoy the personal relationships that I can develop with my patients in a primary care setting. Practicing medicine for me is a calling to serve others and General Internal Medicine best provides that opportunity for service.
