The Department of Professional Development offers clinical orientation to orient new clinical employees to processes & procedures related to provision of care, environment of care & safe practice. A variety of University of Colorado Hospital CNS/Educators and staff present on topics including patient/family education, team communication, patient comfort and safety, to name a few.
Orientees have the opportunity to work as a CARE Team member to sharpen their computer skills and practice various hands-on skills with vascular access, infusion pumps, restraints and glucometers in a safe lab environment while being mentored by CNS/Educators. The time spent in orientation helps to acquaint new members of the University of Colorado Hospital community with their future peers.
