UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital launches expansion project.
UCHealth is expanding Longs Peak Hospital in Longmont to meet the growing health care needs of the community.
In 2017, the hospital, located at 1750 E. Ken Pratt Blvd., opened with 51 beds plus room to grow. Over the past few years, the hospital has grown to 83 beds and has added a trauma bay in the emergency department.
The hospital’s master plan project will be the next big step in preparing the hospital to care for the community for many years to come, according to Ryan Rohman, the hospital’s new president.
“The master plan was thoughtfully designed to grow the care we can provide UCHealth patients right here, close to home,” Rohman said. “We are honored that more and more patients are choosing to receive their care at Longs Peak Hospital. This expansion will help us ensure community members can receive the highest quality of care close to home while ensuring we’re ready for future growth.”
The project includes renovation of current spaces, new construction and creation of new shelled space. It is expected to be completed in Summer 2025.
Highlights include:
- Two new operating rooms and expansion of the post-anesthesia care unit and sterile processing department.
- Three new labor, delivery, post-partum rooms and one new C-section room.
- 10 additional treatment areas in the emergency department.
- A new helipad.
- Expansions to the existing kitchen, dining area, pharmacy, clinical laboratory, materials management, environmental services, clinical engineering, facilities management, IT and support services.
- Construction of shelled space to accommodate future growth to meet additional community needs. This space could be used for additional operating rooms and/or cardiovascular and imaging department expansions.
The expansion is estimated to cost $82 million. McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is the general contractor for the project with Page selected as the architect.
“This project is another example of UCHealth’s commitment to improving lives in the greater Longmont and Carbon Valley areas,” said Stephanie Koenig, vice president of operations at Longs Peak Hospital. “We are looking forward to what the future has in store.”to foster better outcomes for stroke patients.
