The Pueblo Chieftain | New agreement clears path for Pueblo nurses to get bachelor's degrees

The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that there were over 1,900 registered nurses in the Pueblo Metropolitan Statistical Area in May 2024. A recent agreement between Colorado State University Pueblo and UCHealth seeks to address "financial hurdles" for UCHealth registered nurses looking to receive a bachelor's degree from CSU Pueblo. The agreement, signed on Dec. 12, makes CSU Pueblo's online "Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing" (RN to BSN) program a part of UCHealth's Ascend Career Program…In a CSU Pueblo news release, UCHealth Parkview Medical Center Chief Nursing Officer Noreen Bernard said that the agreement between CSU Pueblo and UCHealth grows opportunities for nurses across the state. "At UCHealth, we believe investing in our people directly enhances the quality of care we provide to the communities we serve," Bernard said. "Beyond the RN-to-BSN pathway, the university offers a wide range of programs, certifications, and career options in health care, and we appreciate the possibilities it brings for our staff and ultimately, our patients.”
