Fort Collins, Colo. (Jan. 17, 2026) – Colorado State women’s basketball and UCHealth teamed up today for the seventh annual Fight Like a Ram game — a tradition that has become one of the most powerful and emotional moments of the season for players, patients, families and fans alike.
This year’s game honored UCHealth cancer warriors whose names were worn proudly on the backs of CSU players’ jerseys, replacing the athletes’ own names as a symbol of strength, solidarity and hope.
Colorado State is the only university program in the nation that replaces athlete jersey names with the names of cancer warriors in this meaningful and deeply personal way.
CSU finished this meaningful game especially strong, topping San Jose State 75-60 for the win.
Despite the intensity of the game, the heart of the day came after the final buzzer. Players and cancer warriors met at center court, embracing in a celebration filled with smiles, photos, gratitude and moments that families described as unforgettable.
"This is literally the coolest thing, the most important thing, that Colorado State does," head coach Ryun Williams told the players earlier in the week.
For many of the patients and their loved ones, today offered a moment of joy and recognition amid difficult journeys — a reminder that their fight is shared and seen by an entire community.
