We think our mile-high city deserves its other nickname, "Gateway to the Rockies." With a mountain panorama that's 120 miles long and has nearly 200 named peaks, you're never far away from our inspirational views.
If you ski, you've come to the right place. Many ski resorts are within a two-hour drive.
Summer events. Many mountain resorts host a range of warm-weather events too, and hiking and biking and other outdoor activities are always nearby.
Golfing and cycling
Metro Denver also is a favorite destination for bicyclists and golfers. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, you'll have plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy it. Our love affair with the outdoors has produced:
- 650 miles of paved bike trails (and counting)
- 90 golf courses
- The nation's largest city park system
Our love of action extends to supporting professional sports teams.
Denver also is home to one of the world's largest rodeos - the National Western Stock Show.
Arts and culture
Metro Denver is not just a town of jocks. With one of the highest educated populations of any U.S. city, our citizens also love the arts.
The Denver Performing Arts Complex is the second largest in the nation with 10 theatres that host countless plays, the symphony, opera and ballet.
Our growing music scene offers some of the best concert venues on earth, including the famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre, a 9,000-seat arena carved out of monumental red rock boulders.
Be sure to check out Lower Downtown (called LoDo by the locals). It's our hip downtown historic area, where restored Victorian buildings house:
- Brew pubs
- Comedy clubs
- Jazz clubs
- Boutiques and shops
