Rheumatic diseases affect many organ systems, most notably the musculoskeletal system (joints, muscles, and bones) which can lead to pain, swelling, stiffness, and deformity.\r\n\r\nOur providers perform a detailed evaluation working towards appropriate diagnosis of rheumatic disease and a comprehensive treatment plan as indicated. It uses sound waves to quickly provide images of bones, joints and tendons to assist providers with diagnosis and treatment during the same office visit. It is advantageous when compared to other imaging like x-rays, CT, and MRI because it is painless, provides point-of-care diagnosis, and produces no radiation exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MSK ultrasound is used to enhance the precision of injections and aspirations accurately targeting the location of interest. It is also used to identify crystal deposits associated with gout, and for early detection of joint and tendon inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis.
