Breastfeeding can be challenging at first but we offer services and resources to help you successfully breastfeed your baby.\r\n\r\nTo help breastfeeding get off to the right start, we encourage you to hold your baby skin-to-skin as much as possible in the hours and days after birth. Rooming-in and keeping your baby in your room during your hospital stay also helps establish a good start with breastfeeding.\r\n\r\nWhen mother&#8217;s milk isn&#8217;t available, donor human milk may help your baby thrive and grow. Your concerns may be resolved over the phone or by appointment.\n\n\n<h2 id=\"breastfeeding-resources\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Breastfeeding resources<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have any breastfeeding questions or concerns, we can help through a variety of programs. The following resources are open to all mothers who deliver their babies at Medical Center of the Rockies (MCR) or Poudre Valley Hospital (PVH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"breastfeeding-support-groups\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Breastfeeding support groups<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PVH, MCR, and Longs Peak Hospital (LPH) have Breastfeeding Support Groups that provide an opportunity to receive help from certified lactation counselors and support from other moms in a comfortable, friendly setting. Children are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/events\/\"><u>Please visit our classes\/events page<\/u><\/a> to find breastfeeding support groups near you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"back-to-work-support\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Back to work support<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We encourage you to\u00a0meet with\u00a0a lactation counselor to prepare you for breastfeeding success after returning to work. During this visit, the lactation counselor will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Teach you how to properly use your breast pump.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help you form a plan for pumping and feeding schedules based on your individual needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help you meet your breastfeeding goals after returning to work.<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"scn-lactation-services\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">SCN lactation services<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MCR has a Level II <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/locations\/uchealth-special-care-nursery-at-medical-center-of-the-rockies\/\">Special Care Nursery<\/a> that mean infants as young as 34 weeks gestation can be cared for.
